Comfortis is a straight flea treatment, administered as a monthly tablet. It kills existing and emerging adult fleas for a month, preventing them from laying eggs.
Trifexis, also a monthly tablet, is a broad-spectrum parasite treatment. By the addition of an extra active ingredient (Milbemycin Oxime), it kills fleas at all life stage and also prevents heartworm, roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms.
Trifexis is safe for use in dogs and puppies at least 8 weeks of age, weighing 5 lbs (2.3kg) minimum. Trifexis tablets should not be administered to cats.
Comfortis is available for both dogs and cats. Comfortis may only be administered to dogs over 14 weeks, weighing 5 lbs (2.3kg) minimum, and cats over 14 weeks, weighing 4.1 lbs (1.9kg) minimum.
